Defeat for Tory rebels and Labour defectors who stood against their old parties
Three Tory rebels and three Labour defectors who stood against their old parties were all defeated last night.
Streatham MP Chuka Umunna who left Labour in February was hoping to win the Cities of London & Westminster but lost out to the Conservatives.
Sam Gyimah failed to win Kensington for the Lib Dems and Luciana Berger came second in Finchley & Golders Green.
Former Labour MP Mike Gapes, standing as an Independent. was unable to hang on to his Ilford South seat.
Dominic Grieve, who lost the Conservative whip for trying to sabotage Brexit, was defeated by Tory Joy Morrissey in Beaconsfield.
The Conservatives also held on to Hertfordshire South West despite a challenge by another rebel, former Cabinet minister David Gauke.
