Care home residents draw nude model

Residents at a care home in south west London had the chance to draw a naked model when they took part in an art project.

Sherwood Grange in Kingston Vale, hosted the session as part of The Big Draw, described by organisers as 'the world's largest drawing festival.'

When the 12 strong group was asked what kind of model they preferred, they almost unanimously landed on a ‘nice handsome man’. A professional model, more used to working in artists' studios, was employed for the afternoon to pose for the class.

As part of the session, the residents at the home were given expert tuition from professional artist and life drawing teacher Robin Rutherford.

The session was organised by the care home's lifestyle coordinator Kimblerley Atkin, who said that the home did not want to 'dumb down' in its approach to teaching art.
