Council worker who drove dangerously through Enfield level crossing is sentenced
A council employee who drove a bus dangerously through a level crossing in north London has been sentenced.
Police have released footage of the moment Deena Tsokallis sped up as the barriers were about to come down at Enfield Lock station.
As she made it across, the vehicle narrowly avoided hitting another car.
The 40-year old, of Central Avenue in Enfield, who originally refused to admit what she'd done in February 2017 changed her plea to guilty at the last minute.
At Snaresbrook Crown Court court she was banned from driving for three years, given a 15 month suspended jail sentence and will now have to work unpaid for 200 hours.
PC Savio Capodici from British Transport Police, said:
“Thanks to the overwhelming evidence incriminating Tsokallis’s downright dangerous behaviour, she was forced to change her plea to guilty in the eleventh hour. This was a particularly protracted case and could have been resolved far sooner had she owned up to her behaviour.
“I thoroughly welcome this sentence and hope it sends a strong deterrent to those considering skipping over level crossings. We’ll continue to prosecute those that ignore our repeated warnings and ensure that tough sentences are handed to those that put themselves and others in danger of death or serious injury.”
