TV stars sing for Great Ormond Street Christmas charity single
What do you get when you put Lionel Blair, Anne Hegerty, Shona McGarty and a host of other actors and presenters in a room together? A celebrity charity single of course!
Today the latest Christmas song is hitting the airwaves, all to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
I was invited along to join in with the recording at Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, then again a few days later at Soho's famous Dean Street Studios. I have to say, it was my teenage self's dream to play at being a pop star.
The song "Rock With Rudolph" is joining the race for Christmas number one... and it's catchy. The feel good track has been written and produced by father and son team Grahame and Jack Corbyn and jingles along with an upbeat anthem that you will soon be humming over your mince pies. Ok, I may be a little biased, but it really is a cracker (sorry).
Fans of "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" get the chance to see "The Governess" Anne Hegerty swap the jungle for the recording studio, and some popular soap stars who are singing on the track include EastEnders' Shona McGarty and Nicola Thorp from Coronation Street.
The video also shows off the dance moves of TV Legend Lionel Blair, who celebrates his 90th birthday this December. There's something too for youngsters who enjoy children's television with BBC presenters Rebecca Keatley and Naomi Wilkinson, and Olivia Birchenough and Nathan Connor from Channel 5's Milkshake. Fashonistas will spot former model Gail Porter and supermodel Eunice Olumide.
The team behind "Rock With Rudolph" hope the tune will join the host of iconic Christmas songs that re-visit us every year. Most importantly though, it will raise money for the sick children who need that extra bit of help during the festive season.
