Dulwich Hamlet celebrate promotion to National League South
Dulwich Hamlet ended their tumultuous season by earning promotion to the National League South by defeat Hendon on penalties.
After going a goal behind Gavin Tomlin equalised for Dulwich and Dipo Akinyemi completed promotion by scoring the crucial penalty in the shootout.
A pitch invasion ensued as fans celebrated a momentous occasion after a tough campaign which had seen them evicted from their Champion Hill stadium, leaving the club fearful of extinction as the club became embroiled in a power struggle with ground owners Meadow.
The promotion comes after being defeated in the playoffs for the last four years.
Due to Dulwich not being allowed to play at Champion Hill, the game was hosted by Tooting and Mitcham's KNK Stadium, eight miles from their usual home.
Fans and players partied late into the the night, many celebrating in locals bars and on the streets. The club also received congratulatory messages from numerous famous names, including former Charlton players Jason Euell.
