Man jailed for seven years for biting off part of police officer's ear
A 23-year-old man has been jailed for jailed after being found guilty of GBH with intent for biting off part of a police officer's ear.
Shayon Francis from Camberwell was convicted at Inner London Crown Court on Friday.
He was stopped by a male officer patrolling alone for a routine search on the Roupell Park Estate in Tulse Hill on 31 October 2017.
Within a second of being stopped, the officer was headbutted by Francis, and then he bit off part of the officer's ear while he was on the floor. He then proceeded to stamp on the officer's head before fleeing. Despite the missing part of the ear being found, doctors were unable to reattach it.
