Harlequins women to play in front of record crowd

Harlequins will play against rivals Richmond in front of a record crowd for a women's club rugby match on Saturday.

The game will be played at The Stoop in Twickenham an more than 5,000 people at expected to attend on March 10.

Harlequins forward Shaunagh Brown, who works for Kent Fire Brigade is excited about the prospect of playing in front of a bumper crowd.

Brown told ITV London: "Every week game we get a couple of hundred people and that's good enough and you hear them, even though it's a couple of hundred you still hear them, so playing in front of 5000-plus people, I'm just going to revel in it, I love it, I love the attention, to be honest, so it's our time to shine, our time as a team to shine and we're going to do it."

The previous record for a women's club match in England saw 1,500 attend a Bristol game at Ashton Gate, so this Saturday's crowd will dwarf that.
