Two smash-and-grabs at London stores moments apart
Moped-riding thieves have carried out two smash-and-grab raids on London stores within just hours of each other.
A newly opened Canada Goose shop on Regent Street was targeted around 1.30am on Tuesday.
Ten suspects on five scooters entered after smashing a window and threatening a member of security with a hammer.
The Regent Street boutique, labelled Goose's European flagship store, was only opened at the end of last week.
The theft came as six individuals on three scooters smashed their way into a second clothing store on St John's Wood High Street around 1.30am.
Scotland Yard said those suspects left empty-handed.
Tuesday's raids are the second and third smash-and-grabs in the space of just 24 hours.
Apple's flagship Regent Street store was targeted by 10 thieves in the early hours of Monday.
A security guard was threatened with a hammer as the suspects broke in before making off with iPhones, iPads and watches.
At least three scooters waited on the pavement as people wearing helmets shuttled in and out during the early morning raid in London, video posted online shows.
The latest raids have prompted for renewed calls for tighter security from the business community.
Recent figures suggest that in the year to September, there were more than 19,385 "moped enabled" crimes in the capital - an average of 53 a day - including thefts and robberies.
Anyone who witnessed either incident is asked to call Westminster CID via 101 or Twitter @MetCC. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
