Mentally ill man jailed for random killing of university lecturer

A "dangerous" paranoid schizophrenic has been jailed for a minimum of 15 years for stabbing a university lecturer to death in a random attack.

Daniel Young, 30, died after being stabbed in the stomach in a park near Morden Tube station as he walked to work.

His attacker Mark Loveridge, 39 - who was being cared for in the community at the time of the attack - had a history of violence and drug abuse.

Ronke Phillips spoke to Mr Young’s brother Thomas before sentencing.
