Man sentenced to 18 years for stabbing father to death as his daugher bought sweets
A man who stabbed a father to death while his seven-year-old daughter was nearby buying sweets has been jailed for 18 years.
Abraham Omotoso, 27, stabbed Mohamed Al-Zufairi outside a Poundland in Wealdstone High Street, west London, after what was described as bad blood between their families.
The father-of-two suffered a stab wound to the heart and died in hospital the next day.
The Old Bailey heard Omotoso bought a one-way flight to Lagos in Nigeria on February 28 – the day after the attack – but was arrested at Gatwick when airport staff became suspicious.
He has been sentenced to 18 years in jail for manslaughter after being cleared of a count of murder.
In a statement, the victim's brother Jafar described the impact the death has had on his daughter.
