Southend MP calls for statues of Diana, Thatcher and Forsyth
Conservative MP for Southend Sir David Amess has called for new statues of Diana, Princess of Wales, Margaret Thatcher and Sir Bruce Forsyth in London.
Sir David Amess said he hoped it won't take so long for the new monuments to be built.
Speaking at Business questions, Southend West MP Sir David said:
Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom said the rules had been changed so consent from the Culture Secretary is no longer required to erect statues.
Sir David has been an MP since 1983.
