Totally Thames festival returns with a splash
The Totally Thames will once again bring our much-loved river alive throughout September (Sep 1–Sep 30 2017). New events and installations for 2017 and an event programme that is bigger than previous years, is sure to draw in the crowds to this annual festival.
With a month-long party full of river races, arts festivals, archaeology, community events, regattas and environmental activities, here are our highlights below.
Bascule Chamber Concerts
To celebrate the 300th Anniversary of Handel’s Water Music, composer Iain Chambers returns with the rather impressive Bascule Chamber Concerts deep below Tower Bridge. The unusual setting make this a concert in London like no other.

Working River: London’s Boatyards
This exhibition explores the working lives of boat builders and showcases the stories of the working boatyards, their incredible history, and their legacy on the Thames today. The exhibition also includes a documentary film about the boatyards, produced by Digital:Works.

Great River Race
Cheer on your favourite crew as traditional boats race their way from Millwall to Ham. Some race competitively, while others take part just for fun.

Over 500 singers from choirs across the country will come together led by the fantastic Katie Rose and Michael Harper for a powerful and evocative concert right beside the river Thames. The concert will also feature guest performances from the brilliant Mouthfall and the fabulous Una May.
