Gun crime rise: One person killed or injured every three days last year
A worrying new trend has seen gun crime rise in the capital, with one person killed or seriously injured every three days last year.
A total of 12 people were shot dead in London in 2016, while 89 were seriously injured.
Overall, 691 people were shot at, injured or killed by a gun, or threatened with a firearm in the capital last year.
Guns were fired 744 times - a rise of more than 74 per cent from 2015, which saw 427 firearms incidents, Met Police figures show.

In 2015 ten people were killed by guns, while there were 52 serious injuries, and 322 fewer serious incidents
The worst hit borough for gun crime last year was Newham in east London, which saw 56 incidents, compared to 20 the year before
Hackney and Havering, both east London, saw 39 and 38 incidents respectively, compared to 24 and 21 the year before
The borough with the fewest was Richmond upon Thames, in leafy south west London, which had two incidents last year - the same as 2015
