Appeal after 47-year-old killed in crash
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 47-year-old man was killed in a crash in east London.
The man was walking along Whalebone Lane North in Romford when he was hit by a car.
The driver, a 27-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving.
It happened just before 2.30am and the driver remains in custody.
The dead man's family have been informed but a formal identification has not yet been done.
A post-mortem examination will take place over the coming week.
Road closures were in place but have now been lifted.
