Businesses owners are calling for more CCTV cameras to deter burglars after at least four shops on the same road were targeted in as many weeks.

Residents and traders in Belsize Park have urged Camden Council to act after £30,000 worth of goods were stolen.

A bottle of wine and £1,000 was taken from Taherah Indian restaurant during the most recent burglary, which took place in the early hours of January 7.

A painting worth £20,000 was taken from Sylvester Fine Art in the early hours of December 21.

Raiders also targeted Crescent Fruiterers on December 18, making off with a large pot containing weeks’ worth of pennies and five pence pieces totalling up to £500.

And the Late Late Store supermarket was targeted twice in December, with criminals snatching up to £6,000 worth of cigarettes and £3,000 in cash.

Ward councillor Claire-Louise Leyland plans to raise the calls for CCTV with the council.
