The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for a number of places along the Essex coastline - some of which are the most severe warnings possible and warn of a danger to life.

At Leigh on Sea, Southend seafront, and from Southend Pier to Shoeburyness, there is a high risk of flooding tomorrow afternoon from 1.30pm.

Further north, there are 3 severe flood warnings in place, indicating a high level of flood water posing a danger to life. These are:

  • The coast from Clacton to Lee Wick

  • Tidal river Stour at Mistley, including the Quay and the Walls

  • West Mersea, The Strood and adjacent marshland
