Video footage has emerged of a toddler in a pushchair being thrown to the ground during a violent robbery in Hackney.

The toddler's mother, who was pushing the pram, was attacked on Darenth Road in Stamford Hill on New Year's Day. In video footage posted online by neighbourhood watch group Shomrim, a man is seen chasing the pair down the road and eventually knocking over the pushchair, leading the child to fall out on to the pavement.

Shomrim volunteers told ITV News they have been in regular contact with the mother since the incident, and that the young girl has been having 'terrible nightmares' about the attack.

Police say the suspect is a light-skinned black man aged between 25 and 30, around 5ft 9ins tall and of a slim build with short cropped black hair. He was wearing a blue trench coat and blue jeans. They are asking anyone who recognises him or has any further information to contact them.
