A giant menorah is to be lit up for Chanukah - the Jewish festival of lights - in Trafalgar Square.

The menorah will be on display from Christmas Eve until January 1, with one of the lights lit each day.

London Assemblt officials said that due to the timing of Chanukah this year, the event organisers - the Jewish Leadership Council, London Jewish Forum and Chabad Lubavitch UK -have chosen not to have a lighting ceremony event in Trafalgar Square
