Man dead and woman in critical condition after crash

A man has died and a woman is in critical condition after a crash in north west London last night.

Transport police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward who saw the collision between a car and two pedestrians.

It happened in Willesden Lane at the junction with Walm Lane in Willesden Green at about 11.30pm.

One of the pedestrians, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the roadside and the woman, who is in her late 20s was taken to hospital.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was also taken to hospital but had minor injuries.

He has since been discharged and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving.

He remains in custody in a north London police station.
