Man and woman charged with attempted murder of police officer in east London

A man and woman have been charged with the attempted murder of police officer in east London.

Andrew Beadie, 20, of Basildon and Janine Morris, 34, from Bow were both charged on November 26 with attempted murder and two counts of affray.

Morris was also charged with assisting an offender.

They will both appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on November 28.

A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remains on bail until a date in late January 2017 pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command launched an investigation after a plain clothes police officer was stabbed in an alleyway near the Bow Bells Pub, in Bow Road on November 22 while deployed on a pre-planned operation.

The officer remains in hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
