A man has been charged after a police officer was attacked during a raid on a suspected cannabis factory.

Andy Philip, 42, of Dorrington Point, Bow, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and production of controlled drugs, namely cannabis.

He was bailed to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on December 1.

The injured officer was treated in hospital for multiple injuries to the head, a swollen left cheek and a swollen left hand after Friday’s attack.

He has since been discharged from hospital.
