Southern Railway strike: How your journey will be affected

Long suffering commuters will face yet more strikes after the RMT union dismissed Southern Railway's offer of £2,000 for conductors to return to work as a "bribe".

Southern Railway has urged the union to put its offer to a referendum of its members in an attempt to avert more strike action.

The strike will start tonight at midnight and last for three days.

  • Tuesday 18 October to Thursday 20 October

  • Thursday 3 November to Saturday 5 November

  • Tuesday 22 November and Wednesday 23 November

  • Tuesday 6 December to Thursday 8 December

Southern Railway say that some train services will operate, and has given a list of alternate buses which will be in service.

  • London buses - Between Redhill and West Croydon via Merstham on route 405

  • Metro buses - Between Merstham and Redhill on routes 430 and 435

  • Two peak trains between Uckfield and London Bridge in the morning, returning in the late afternoon

  • Buses at peak times connecting Uckfield, Buxted, Crowborough and Eridge with Haywards Heath and Tunbridge Wells (for rail connections to/from London)

  • A train service between Dorking and Horsham (buses will operate at certain times)

  • Services to Redhill until approximately 23:00

  • Later services on the London Bridge to East Grinstead route
