West Ham fans hit with set of match day rules at a bar near new stadium
West Ham fans have been slapped with a set of match day rules at a bar near their new stadium.
Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick, near the Hammers' new home at the London Stadium, introduced the new stipulations after an influx of fans arrived at the hipster hangout.
Hammers fans on match days have swapped pie and mash for upmarket craft breweries since the club's controversial move from Upton Park, with many complaining of steep prices near their new ground.
Many businesses in the area have welcomed football fans' trade. But Crate Brewery has handed new rules to supporters and said that those in team colours would be banned from entering the bar after matches.
The notice given to customers states:
The venue, which styles itself as a "family friendly" bar and restaurant, slapped fans with the notice ahead of the Hammers' game against Accrington Stanley at London Stadium on Wednesday.
West Ham supporter and club fan magazine writer Emily Pulham feels the pub is stereotyping West Ham fans, and tarnishing all Hammers game-goers with the same brush.
Emily criticised their customer service, and says she will not return to Crate after the way she was treated.
Crate Brewery have been contacted for a comment.
