Officer put on 'restricted duties' after car windscreen smashing video
A police officer filmed smashing the a car windscreen in north London has been put on 'restricted duties' while the video is investigated.
In the video the officer is seen hitting the windscreen until the glass shatters.
He then takes out what appears to be a pen knife and slices around the window while driver Leon Fontana is still inside.
Mr Fontana, who filmed the footage on his phone, said he had to be treated in hospital afterwards as some of the glass hit him.
He was not arrested during the incident and claims it was a case of mistaken identity.
Posting the video on Facebook, he wrote: "Wat would u do? This is a daily occurrence for me and my friends."
Afterwards he said: "Just wanna say thanks to everyone that has supported me.
"Don't have nothing against Metropolitan police but being treated like this isn't right."
A spokesperson from the Met Police said: "Although the investigation is in its early stages, it has been established the officers stopped the vehicle based on information relating to a man who is of interest to police.
"On conclusion of the incident the officers identified that the driver was not the man in question and he was not arrested.
"The investigation will examine the officer’s use of force during the incident.”
