Three London buildings in running to be named Britain's ugliest
Three London buildings have been nominated for an "award" which names and shames Britain’s ugliest building.
Six buildings are included in the shortlist for the Carbuncle Cup, compiled from suggestions by design experts for architects' website Building Design.
London's "unsightly" buildings:
Saffron Square, Croydon, described as having a "car crash of a facade"
5 Broadgate, City of London, described as a "mute steel fortress"
Lincoln Plaza, Docklands, with "haphazardly assembled facades that are crude, jarring and shambolic".
The other shortlisted buildings are The Diamond, University of Sheffield; One Smithfield, Stoke on Trent and Poole Methodist Church extension.
Last year’s winner was 20 Fenchurch Street in the City of London, dubbed the Walkie Talkie.
The "winner" of this year’s Carbuncle Cup will be revealed on Wednesday 7 September.
