London fire chiefs back Bake Off judge Mary Berry in row over 'dangerous' deep fat-fryers
London fire chiefs have waded in on the row about deep-fat fryers, after Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry described them as "dangerous".
Masterchef's Greg Wallace had criticised her for telling a magazine that no family should own one, calling her comments an "attack on our British way of life".
But London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) deputy assistant commissioner has leapt to the Bake Off star’s defence.
The LFB said more than one fire a week is caused by deep fat-fryers, with 42 in London so far this year leaving eight people injured.
