Man arrested after machete in McDonald's incident

A man who allegedly waved a machete around in a McDonald's restaurant has been arrested.

Police were called to the fast-food chain in Welling, south London, at around 11.50am, but found the suspect had already disappeared.

A short time later the man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

A police spokesman said the incident was not terror related, adding that investigations were ongoing.

The man remains in custody at a south London police station.
