London's new Crossrail trains boast underground wifi and mobile phone reception - but no toilets

London's new £1bn fleet of Crossrail trains will boast underground wifi and mobile phone reception - but no toilets.

The first of the 66 trains for the recently-named Elizabeth Line was unveiled at a factory in Derby.

The 200 metre long 'Class 345' will begin carrying passengers on services between Liverpool St and Shenfield, Essex next year.

Crossrail will ultimately link Reading and Heathrow Airport with Shenfield and Abbey Wood, south east London.

Transport for London said passengers would have access to wifi and 4G throughout the central tunnel beneath London.

The air-conditioned trains can carry a maximum of 1,500 passengers but in line with existing tube trains, are not fitted with toilets.

TfL bosses and journalists were invited to ride on the first of the trains along a short test track at the Bombardier factory in Derby.
