An undercover police car has crashed into customers dining outside a restaurant in Kentish Town.

The unmarked police vehicle was responding to an emergency call when it collided with another car and smashed into a bollard near the packed Pizza East in Highgate Road on Tuesday evening.

Two members of the public, a man and a woman both in their 30s, and two police officers were injured.

The man has been taken to hospital where he remains in a non-life threatening condition, Scotland Yard said.

The two police officers involved in the collision are also being treated for whiplash injuries.

No arrests have been made.

The incident has been referred to the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards and to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, the force said.
