Arrests after drug raids
Police in south west London have been involved in raids last night and this morning in a crackdown on drug dealing, violence and associated crime. 21 people have been arrested so far for various offences.
Over 100 officers were led by Wandsworth's Proactive unit in the operation following leads that drugs were openly being traded in certain parts of the borough. Police believe local gangs were involved with violent attacks being carried out.
In the two day operation 22 searches have been carried out so far in Tooting, Streatham, Tulse Hill, Mitcham, Southwark, West Norwood, Carshalton, and Walthamstow.
Items seized include class A and class B drugs, approximately £1000 in cash and three large combat knives and lock knives. Those arrested remain in custody pending further enquiries.
