After two years on the Broadway stage, Aladdin is flying into London's West End, opening at the Prince Edward Theatre tonight. The production aims to bring to life the magic of one of Disney’s most well-loved stories.

The cast includes former Britain's Got Talent performer Dean John-Wilson as Aladdin, Sugababes singer Jade Ewen as Jasmine and Trevor Dion Nicholas as the Genie, who played the same role on Broadway. The creative team behind the show boasts a huge collection of awards including Grammys, Tonys and Oscars.

The producers behind the show are Disney Theatrical Productions, who have seen The Lion King prove a hit to audiences in the capital over the past 17 years.

Aladdin features popular songs from the 1992 animated film as well as new music. A trailer for the London production shows an array of colour and spectacle as well as, of course, a flying carpet.

The West End show was originally due to run until October but bookings have now been extended into 2017.
