Schoolgirl in a serious condition after being hit by a train

A schoolgirl has been seriously injured after being hit by a train during the morning rush hour.

remains in a major trauma centre this afternoon after she was hit by a train at Catford Bridge train station in south-east London shortly before 8am on Monday morning.

The incident caused delays for passengers heading into the capital.

The girl was taken to hospital for leg and head injuries where she remains in a serious condition.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
