Strikes are set to hit the rail network on Wednesday amid union walkout over the changing role of conductors.

Southern Rail said industrial action affecting Southern services on Wednesday 18 May. The RMT union changed the date for the planned industrial action across the Southern network.

The industrial action was planned to take place on Friday 20 May, but it is now planned to take place on Wednesday 18 May.

It would have a "significant effect" with no service on many routes and only a limited service between approximately 7.30pm and 6pm on others.

Queuing systems will be in place at many stations that are open so you may have a long wait before you are able to board a train. Unfortunately, Southern cannot guarantee to get you to your destination.
