Senior London Conservative blasts Zac Goldsmith's 'outrageous' election campaign

A senior London Conservative last night tore into Zac Goldsmith's election campaign branding it 'outrageous'.

London Assembly Tory leader Andrew Boff claimed campaign tactics to undermine Labour candidate Sadiq Khan had damaged community relations.

Boff accused Goldsmith of relying too heavily on advice from Tory strategists and failing to listen to warnings from local London party officials.

Mr Boff told BBC Newsnight bridges between Conservatives and Muslim communities had been 'blown up'.

Goldsmith's campaign to succeed Boris Johnson was attacked by Labour for being negative and divisive after repeated claims about Khan's links to hardline Islamic clerics and extremists.>The result of the election for London mayor is expected later today after vote counting started at three centres this morning.>Recent opinion polls, including one yesterday, suggest the Tory campaign tactics failed to dent Khan's lead.
