If you want proof of a London 2012 legacy, the Nielsen twins are it
Identical twin sisters Laviai and Lina Nielsen were so inspired by volunteering at London 2012, that their ambition ever since has been to compete in the Rio Olympics.
They won a competition to be kit carriers for Jessica Ennis-Hill in 2012, when they were only 16-years-old. Lina told ITV London:
Laviai adds:
At the time, sport was a just a hobby for the pair, but they started training and last year were part of the 4x4 400m relay team who won gold at the European Championships in the under-20 category.
Laviai was the fastest junior over 400m. They have four track and two gym sessions a week, alongside their university studies.
They are so busy, there is no time for sibling rivalry on the track.
If you want proof of a London 2012 legacy, the Nielsen twins are it.
