A man has been hit and killed by a lorry on the M25 after getting out of his car on the hard shoulder to check for damage.

Investigators believe his car hit the central reservation before he pulled over and got out.

He was then struck by the lorry.

The driver of the lorry “briefly stopped” at the scene but then left, police say.

They are now appealing for the driver to come forward.

The accident happened between junctions 29 and 28, near Brentwood, on the anti-clockwise stretch, just before 9pm on Thursday.

Next of kin have not yet been informed.
