Teenager trips over machete stuffed down his trousers in bungled police getaway

A teenager who tried to run away from police bungled his getaway after tripping over a machete stuffed inside his trousers.

The 17-year-old was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa stopped by police in Merton High Street, south-west London.

They found cannabis inside the car and arrested the passenger and a male drive in his early twenties.

The machete has been recovered and both men remain in custody.
