A debate on the spiraling costs of living in London has been blasted as “a joke” – because tickets are £20 a head.

Is London dying? asks “has London lost its edge”.

But a slew of Facebook posts have mocked the event, being hosted just off Brick Lane by The Idler Academy, for its steep entry fee.

The Idler Academy, which was founded in 2010 and offers courses in the "classical liberal arts and practical skills", has responded to some of the posts, saying the 90-minute debate has a concession entry fee.
