Detectives have renewed their appeals to trace a Tooting tattoo artist who has been missing for more than 36 years.

Thomas Gerry Redmond, who was born in 1953, and who was known to family and friends as Gerry, was last seen at his home address in Moyser Road, Tooting in the summer of 1979.

He was 26 years old at the time, although the exact date and circumstances of the last sighting is not known.

Gerry was single and worked as a tattooist at the Barry Louvaine tattoo shop on Garratt Lane in Earlsfield. A shop remains at the site, although it is now under new ownership.

He is a white, who would now be 62 years old.

He had tattoos including an eagle, pirate and rose and the words 'Rob Tattoo' on his right forearm.

On his left forearm were tattoos of two birds, a rose, a horse's head and the words 'Gerry and Darren', the latter being a reference to his brother.

There have been previous appeals to trace Gerry, including a television appeal on Carlton TV's 'Missing' on 11 July 1995.
