Man released by police after car plunges into canal

A 22-year-old man has been released after a car containing him and two passengers went into a canal.

The people in the car managed to get out of the car and the canal before the emergency services arrived.

The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving.

No further action is being taken against him regarding the drink driving offence but the investigation is continuing into whether it was dangerous driving.

Emergency services were called just after 2am on Saturday after receiving reports that a car had gone into the canal near Blomfield Road, Paddington.

No one was injured.
