London is best city in the world according to reviews

London has been ranked the best city in the worlds according to visitor review site TripAdvisor.

It is the second time London has taken the top spot with the last time being in 2012 when the city hosted the Olympics.

London came top based on millions of reviews and opinions with quantity and quality of reviews taken into consideration.

When it comes to the best sightseeing, London also came top in the world for sheer numbers of sights and landmarks.

Making the top five were:

  • 1 Tower of London

  • 2 Big Ben

  • 3 Churchill War Rooms

  • 4 Houses of Parliament

  • 5 Tower Bridge

When it came to best neighbourhoods, it seems visitors are a discerning lot with Belgravia coming top for restaurants, Spitalfields for attractions and Westminster the best for hotels.

The most frequently booked hotel was The Montague on the Gardens in Russell Square and nearby Covent Garden was the most reviewed neighbourhood.

The most reviewed restaurant was the Aqua Shard in the Shard, London Bridge but the highest ranked was Le Gavroche near Marble Arch.
