Front-runners to replace Boris Johnson as London mayor pitched into new battle in the debate over Europe
The front-runners to replace Boris Johnson as London mayor were today pitched into a new battle on opposite sides in the debate over Europe.
Conservative candidate Zac Goldsmith confirmed his backing for the campaign to leave the European Union.
Labour's Sadiq Khan wants Britain to vote to stay in Europe in the referendum on June 23rd.
The rival positions held by the two London MPs will put the row over Europe at the forefront of the mayoral campaign.
Goldsmith's position puts him on the same side as left wing mayoral candidate George Galloway who is standing for his Respect party.
