Man jailed for 16 years over rape and sexual abuse of children
A man has been jailed for 16 years after being convicted of a rape and sexual abuse against children.
Julian King, 53, of Waltham Forest was sentenced after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
King was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register and been given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
He was arrested when a victim came forward to police in 2014 to document the abuse.
The attacks took place in the Ilford area between 2003 and 2009.
She was aged under 16 at the time the abuse ended.
King was sentenced for the following:
Five counts of Rape/attempt rape of a child - 10 years' imprisonment
Three counts of Indecency with a child - three years' imprisonment, concurrent
Three counts of Indecency with a child - three years' imprisonment, concurrent but to run consecutively with the above
Three counts of Indecent assault- two years concurrent
Sexual assault of a child - two years concurrent
Sexual activity with a child - three years concurrent
Taking indecent images of a child - two years concurrent
Another woman was then identified who was abused by King between 1997 and 1999 in the South Lambeth area.
She was under 13 at the time of the abuse.
In both instances, he was a friend of the victims' families, and he groomed the victims.
Officers from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command investigated the incidents and arrested King on January 3 2015.
He was charged in August 2015.
Julian King was sentenced on Friday, February 19.
