A gang of thieves made what has been described as the 'slowest ever getaway' after stealing an electric truck with a top speed of 10mph.

The green builders truck was loaded with bricks as the gang made off just after 7.45 pm from St Philomena's Catholic High School in Carhsalton, Surrey.

But witnesses said that the truck was traveling so slow it sparked traffic jams, the mirror reported.

Another witness said they saw the truck 45 minutes later in Wrythe Lane, around 1.5 miles from the school where it was stolen at about 8.30pm.
