BAFTA protest against 'lack of diversity'
A protest is due to be held outside tonight's BAFTAs against what is being described as a lack of diversity in the film industry.
Creatives of Colour Network will stage the "peaceful" demonstration outside the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Idris Elba and Star Wars actor John Boyena - the only two black actors to be shortlisted for a BAFTA this year - are expected to walk the red carpet ahead of the ceremony.
BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry said this week the awards do not feature more black and ethnic minority nominees because the film industry "isn't diverse enough", adding she is supportive of tonight's demonstration.
Batman and Alien 3 actor Leon Herbert, who is leading the protest, said he wants to "create a level playing field".
Creatives of Colour Network has been using the hashtag #BaftaBlackout on Twitter.
