Officials at Transport for London have said sorry after a bus driver left a disabled passenger stranded on the roadside.

The bus driver initially put down the wheelchair ramp but right on the pole of the bus stop - which meant 17-year-old Melody Powell could not get on.

But instead of moving to another spot to let her on, the driver hit the accelerator meaning Melody had to travel half a mile in her wheelchair.

Melody who was born with a form of muscular dystrophy said the incident happened on Friday around 430pm, when a number 71 bus drove off in Kingston.

The shocked teenager posted the video to Facebook.

TfL has confirmed it is investigating the incident.
