David Beckham buys cup of tea for paramedic and her elderly patient

David Beckham bought a paramedic and her injured elderly patient a cup of tea and coffee when he spotted them in the cold waiting for an ambulance.

Catherine Maynard was treating a pensioner who had fallen in the street when she was greeted by the former England captain near Endsleigh Street in central London on Monday.

Beckham got in his car before returning 10 minutes later with the hot beverages.

"'We were both very amused, and flattered," Maynard said.

London Ambulance Service hailed Beckham's kind gesture, saying "even a gesture as small as buying a cup of coffee makes our crews feel appreciated".
