Dangerous driver jailed for crash which left 82 bus passengers injured
A bus driver has been jailed for causing a crash in which 82 of his 99 passengers were injured.
Modecai Juma, 42, was behind the wheel of a double decker bus when he crossed the carriageway and collided with a Vauxhall Corsa coming in the opposite direction.
The crash caused the bus to overturn, seriously injuring seven people on board.
The driver of the car suffered serious life-changing injuries while her son, who was a passenger, escaped with slight injuries.
Witnesses described Modecai Juma's driving as dangerous throughout the ten mile journey from Queensbury Tube Station in West London to South Mimms in Hertfordshire.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the crash in October 2014.
Juma was sentenced to three years behind bars at St Albans Crown Court and disqualified from driving for five years when he must take an extended re-test.
