London's police chief today defended his new taxpayer-funded £65,000 luxury Range Rover equipped with a high-tech entertainment system.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said he needed the top-of-the range car to watch TV news programmes.
The new Range Rover, believed to be bullet-proof, was delivered last year shortly before the Commissioner warned of possible cuts in police numbers.
Scotland Yard decided to replace the previous Ranger Rover because it had 130,000 miles on the clock
Sir Bernard told LBC he needed a large car because he travels with bodyguards.
