Parts of London continue to enjoy unseasonably warm weather today.

Forecasters say temperatures continue to be exceptionally mild for December and could reach 16C in London.

The Met Office said yesterday that it was the fourth mildest start to December across the UK since 1960.

Despite a band of rain heading over Britain from the west, the Met Office said temperatures are around 7C above average.

Bookies have now slashed the odds for December to become the hottest ever.

The likelihood of the month's current record for the hottest day, 18.3C in 1948, being broken is currently at 4/6, according to Ladbrokes. It has also put the chances of seeing the hottest Christmas Day of all time at 2/1.
